Bing & Grøndahl sea lion figurine 1733 Knud Møller

This Bing & Grøndahl sea lion figurine no. 1733 is a characterful porcelain figurine with a vivid and lifelike expression. The sea lion is modeled in an upright position with an outstretched neck and raised head, as if it has just caught a scent from the sea or is gazing out over the coast. The figurine has a beautiful movement in the body, where the soft lines and the upright posture give the motif both calm and presence.

The glossy underglaze highlights the form of the figurine beautifully. In the pictures, a dark glaze with light nuances over the chest and neck can be seen, giving the animal figurine depth and a natural play of colors. The face is executed with clear details, and the pronounced whiskers emphasize the maritime motif. It is a porcelain figurine that fits well with both classic décor and a more modern home, where it can stand alone as an eye-catcher or be included together with other animal figurines and Danish porcelain.

The figurine is designed by Knud Møller for Bing & Grøndahl, and it bears the formal language that many collectors and design enthusiasts appreciate: naturalism, balance, and solid craftsmanship quality. Porcelain animal figurines from Bing & Grøndahl in particular are popular as collectibles, and this sea lion has a motif that stands out with its upright posture and strong silhouette.

An older porcelain figurine like this contains both history and lasting decorative value. It is an obvious choice for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines, for those who love Nordic animal motifs, or as a gift for someone who appreciates Danish design with soul. Choosing original porcelain with history is at the same time a beautiful way to give classic craftsmanship new life in today's home.
