Bing & Grøndahl rough-haired terrier figurine no. 2072

This dog figurine from Bing & Grøndahl depicts a rough-haired terrier in an upright and attentive posture. The figurine has a lively expression with a raised tail, firm stance and an alert gaze, giving it plenty of personality. The light glaze is combined with discreet brownish areas, which highlight the head, ears and back and support the terrier's characteristic appearance.

It is a porcelain figurine that balances naturalism and simplicity in a way that makes it easy to love. The body is modelled with clean lines, while the shape of the head, the beard around the snout and the springy posture give the figurine its distinctive character. The motif is well suited to both dog lovers and collectors of classic animal figurines from Bing & Grøndahl.

The figurine is designed by Lauritz Jensen and executed in underglaze, which gives it the soft surface and the muted colour transitions that characterise many older porcelain figurines. This particular type of dog figurine has a timeless charm and works well both as a standalone decoration and as part of a collection with other dog figurines, animal figurines or Danish porcelain.

A figurine like this adds a personal and calm expression to the home. It can be placed in the display cabinet, on a shelf or on the desk, where it brings history, craftsmanship and character into the interior. For many, older porcelain figurines are also a beautiful way to choose things with durability and soul rather than newly produced items.
