Royal Copenhagen Irish Setter dog figurine no. 3252 Theodor Madsen

Royal Copenhagen dog figurine no. 3252 depicts an Irish Setter in a calm and attentive posture. The figurine is modelled with an upright stance, raised head and long tail, so that it conveys the alert elegance and lively presence that precisely characterise this type of hunting dog. The light brownish markings over the white glaze give the figurine depth and movement, while the soft lines in the coat emphasise the naturalistic expression.

The design is by Theodor Madsen, who is known for his fine animal figurines for Royal Copenhagen. Here, the dog's slender body, narrow head and drooping ears are rendered with a confident hand, so that the figurine is both true to the breed's character and at the same time has the classic porcelain expression that makes Royal Copenhagen figurines sought after among collectors. The underglaze-decorated surface gives a glossy and harmonious overall impression.

As a vintage porcelain figurine, this Irish Setter has both history and personality. It is a figurine that fits beautifully in a collection of Royal Copenhagen animal figurines, but it can also stand alone on the shelf, on the desk or in the display cabinet, where it adds a calm and cultivated expression to the home. For dog lovers, collectors of Danish porcelain and everyone who takes pleasure in classic decorative art, it is a figurine with lasting appeal. Choosing older porcelain like this is at the same time a way to give good craftsmanship new life and let design with soul live on in modern surroundings.
