Bing & Grøndahl female figurine no. 1900 white porcelain figurine

This white female figurine from Bing & Grøndahl, model no. 1900, has an expression that immediately brings to mind Art Nouveau and the soft, undulating world of forms for which Jens Peter Dahl Jensen is known. The figurine depicts a standing woman with one arm raised and the other hand behind her head in a free, curved pose, where the entire composition appears light, lively and almost dancing.

The long, flowing skirt descends into a dramatic, undulating base, which gives the figurine both movement and calm. The white glaze emphasizes the sculptural lines and lets the light play beautifully across the surface, so that the fine forms in body, drapery and posture stand out clearly. It is precisely the kind of porcelain figurine that functions both as an art object and as a distinctive part of the interior.

Jens Peter Dahl Jensen is among the great names in Danish figurative art, and in this figurine one senses his sure feeling for anatomy, movement and decorative unity. Bing & Grøndahl figurines have long been sought after among collectors, and the model number is often an important part of the search for those looking for a particular porcelain figurine or wishing to supplement an existing collection.

As an older porcelain figurine, it also contains that special charm that comes with classic Danish craftsmanship. Choosing a figurine with history is at the same time a beautiful way to bring quality and personality into the home. It looks beautiful on a chest of drawers, in a display cabinet or as a sculptural feature on a shelf, where the white glaze and the slender silhouette have room to stand out.

Under the figurine's base, Dahl Jensen's name is inscribed, which connects the work directly to the artist and makes the figurine even more interesting for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl and Danish porcelain art.
