Bing & Grøndahl Christmas Plate 1910 The Old Organist

With The Old Organist from 1910, Bing & Grøndahl has created a Christmas plate where calm, devotion and music merge in an atmospheric winter motif. In the middle of the picture, the organist is seen seated at the large organ, surrounded by the church's high space, columns and vaults. The striking organ pipes rise as the centre of the motif and give the plate a solemn character that suits the contemplative mood of Christmas beautifully.

Each edition was produced in a limited number, and after the year's final firing the mould was destroyed, so the completed production could not be resumed later.
