Bing & Grøndahl Saint Bernard puppy figurine no. 1926, 12 cm

This Saint Bernard puppy from Bing & Grøndahl is a charming dog figurine with a calm and present expression. The figurine is modelled sitting with a slightly tilted head, soft shapes, and a fine attentiveness in its gaze, which gives it plenty of personality. It is precisely the type of animal figurine that works well in a collection of classic Danish design while also adding warmth and character to the interior.

The figurine is made of stoneware and appears with a light glaze, where brown areas mark the muzzle, ears, chest, legs, and paws. The play of colours emphasises the dog's body shape and gives the figurine a lively, handmade character. The motif is naturalistic, yet still simple and decorative, which makes it suitable both as a dog figurine for the shelf, display cabinet, or desk.

The artist is Niels Nielsen, and the model bears figurine number 1926. For collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines and animal figurines, it is a model that combines Danish design with a motif many are fond of. A Saint Bernard puppy like this also works well as a gift idea for the dog lover or for someone who appreciates older decorative art and figurines with soul. It is a decorative figurine, created to be viewed up close and appreciated for both form, glaze, and expression.

At DPH - Danish Porcelain House, many choose precisely this type of dog figurine because it works beautifully on its own, but can also easily be combined with other porcelain and stoneware figurines in a personal collection.
