Bing & Grøndahl The Woman with the Eggs figure no. 2126

The Woman with the Eggs is a classic Bing & Grøndahl figure that captures a quiet moment from rural life with warmth and presence. The figure depicts a woman in folk costume with a basket full of eggs balanced on her head, while her hands are raised toward her chest in a calm, lifelike pose. The motif has the down-to-earth narrative and everyday human life that make older Danish porcelain figures so sought-after among collectors and interior enthusiasts.

Svend Lindhart has created a figure with a fine sense of movement and character. The slender form, the slightly backward-bent head and the upright posture give the figure a natural expression, while the colours in brown, white, green and dark shades bring the whole together beautifully. The woven egg basket on the head is an eye-catching detail that underscores the figure's motif as an agricultural figure and peasant figure with a clear connection to life in the countryside.

The porcelain figure is executed in underglaze, a technique that gives the surface depth and a durable, glossy finish. This makes the model suitable both as a collector's figure in a Bing & Grøndahl collection and as a decorative porcelain figure in the home. It fits beautifully in a display cabinet, on a shelf or together with other figures with motifs from farm life, crafts and Danish everyday culture.

For many, figures like this one in particular are something special because they carry the story forward. Vintage porcelain figures with motifs from farming life and daily work add personality, soul and cultural history to the interior, while also being a sustainable choice. Giving a beautiful older piece of porcelain new life is also a way of appreciating good craftsmanship that was created to last through generations.
