Bing & Grøndahl football player no. 2375 porcelain figurine

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 2375 depicts a young football player in a calm, concentrated moment with the ball close to his foot. The motif is simple and lively at the same time: a boy in a white playing kit, slightly bent forward and ready in his body, as if the next touch of the ball has already been thought through. This makes the figurine a fine choice for collectors of porcelain figurines and for those who appreciate sports motifs in classic Danish design.

Vita Thymann has designed the figurine with an eye for both movement and balance. The slender posture, the long lines and the subdued colour scheme give the figurine a calm expression, while the motif still exudes football, energy and youth. The white kit, the high socks and the ball by the foot make it easy to read as a sports figurine, and precisely for that reason it is also ideal as a gift for someone interested in football or as part of a collection of child figurines and sports motifs.

As a porcelain figurine from Bing & Grøndahl, it also contains the special charm that characterises classic figurines with character and storytelling. The underglaze supports the soft, harmonious expression and gives the surface depth and sheen. The figurine stands beautifully on its own in a bookcase, in a display cabinet or on a shelf, where it can add personality to the interior with its motif from the world of sport.

For many, older porcelain figurines are more than decoration. They bring history, craftsmanship and lasting quality into the home, and they are at the same time a beautiful example of how design created to last can find new life with a new owner. A figurine like this football player fits both into a classic collection and into a modern home, where one wants objects with soul and a motif that evokes recognition.
