Bing & Grøndahl Steen Lykke Madsen stoneware figurine no. 7047

This Bing & Grøndahl stoneware figurine no. 7047, designed by Steen Lykke Madsen, has a distinctive and playful expression that makes it an exciting feature in the interior. The figurine is made in a soft, organic form with a stylised human motif, where the rounded lines, the simple facial profile and the seated posture give it both a humorous and artistic character.

The glazed surface plays beautifully in light beige, brownish and dark contour tones, which highlight the figurine's shapes and details. It is precisely the interplay between the abstract and the human that is characteristic of this type of design figurine, where the motif does not become naturalistic, but is instead interpreted freely and vividly. This gives the figurine a strong personality and makes it interesting to look at from several angles.

Steen Lykke Madsen's design language appeals both to collectors of Danish stoneware and to those who appreciate ceramic figurines with a more modern, sculptural expression. As a Bing & Grøndahl figurine, it fits well into a collection of Danish design, but it can also stand alone on a shelf, in a bookcase or on a side table, where it adds warmth, character and a touch of craftsmanship.

Older stoneware figurines like this often have a particularly present charm. They are created to last, and that is precisely why they are also a fine choice for those who appreciate good craftsmanship, design with history and the joy of giving beautiful quality objects new life in a modern home. The figurine would also be an obvious gift idea for a collector or for someone who appreciates Danish ceramics and Bing & Grøndahl.
