Michael Andersen & Søn fisherman bust small ceramic no. 3934-1

This small fisherman bust from Michael Andersen & Søn has plenty of character. The motif shows an elderly fisherman with a pipe, deep facial features and a closed gaze, framed by a sou'wester and shoulder area. It is a figure that brings to mind coastal life, the work of the sea, and the special calm and toughness often associated with the fishing environment. As a decorative ceramic figure, it adds both personality and storytelling to the home.

The expression is striking and vividly executed. The face appears light and calm against the darker glaze in reddish-brown shades, while the hat and parts of the bust have a crackled, almost mosaic-like play of color with light and turquoise tones. The contrast between the light skin, the pipe and the heavy clothing gives the figure a strong visual expression, which makes it interesting to look at from several angles.

As a fisherman figure and occupational figure, it fits well in an interior with an interest in Danish ceramics, coastal culture and figures with human expression. The small size makes it easy to place in a bookcase, on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a collection of Michael Andersen & Søn figures. It can also be an obvious gift idea for collectors or for someone who is fond of maritime motifs and Danish decorative art with character.

Michael Andersen & Søn is a sought-after name among collectors of Danish ceramics, and the model number makes the figure easier to identify. Here you get a characterful ceramic bust, where motif and glaze work well together and create a figure with presence and history in its expression.
