Royal Copenhagen The Soldier and the Witch from The Tinderbox figurine no. 1112

The Soldier and the Witch from The Tinderbox figurine no. 1112 from Royal Copenhagen is a classic porcelain figurine with a distinct fairy-tale atmosphere and a story that many will immediately recognize from H.C. Andersen's universe. The motif brings together two striking figures in one work: the upright soldier in uniform and the elderly witch, who stand closely facing each other in a moment full of tension and anticipation. This makes the figurine an atmospheric choice for collectors of fairy-tale figurines and Danish porcelain.

The figurine is designed by Christian Thomsen and executed in underglaze, which emphasizes Royal Copenhagen's proud tradition of porcelain with fine details and durable decoration. On the figurine, the soldier is seen with a tall hat, saber, and pack, while the witch is depicted with an apron, dark dress, and an expressive face that gives the scene character. The narrative composition means that the figurine functions as more than a porcelain figurine; it is also a small sculpture with literary and cultural-historical appeal.

For collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines, fairy-tale figurines, and Danish porcelain figurines, model 1112 is a motif with both identity and recognizability. It fits beautifully in a collection with other figurines of people, theater and fairy-tale motifs, or in an interior where classic Danish design may well have personality and history. Older porcelain figurines like this one in particular have a special ability to add soul and character to the home, while at the same time carrying on the joy of fine craftsmanship created to be preserved.

This Royal Copenhagen figurine is also an obvious gift idea for the collector, for the fairy-tale enthusiast, or for the one who appreciates Danish porcelain with a story. It stands beautifully alone in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as part of a curated arrangement with other classic figurines from the same universe.
