Royal Copenhagen donkeys figurine 1486 J.A. Heuch 1913 26 cm

Royal Copenhagen figurine 1486 with two donkeys on base is an unusual and characterful porcelain figurine, modelled by J. A. Heuch in 1913. The motif combines calm and work in one story: one donkey stands alert, while the other lies down with pack on its back. The soft lines, the long ears and the natural posture give the figurine a lifelike expression, making it ideal for collectors of Royal Copenhagen animal figurines and Danish porcelain.

The colours are kept in muted grey and light shades with fine detailing on the harness and pack, which emphasises the figurine's calm, almost narrative mood. The base is shaped like uneven terrain, so the composition gains depth and movement from all angles. The underglaze decoration gives the surface the glossy, deep finish that many associate with older Royal Copenhagen figurines. The figurine fits beautifully in a collection with other animal figurines, but also stands strong on its own in a bookshelf, a display cabinet or as a personal feature in the home decor.

At the same time, it is a figurine with history and soul. Older porcelain figurines like this are made to last and deserve to be preserved and used in the home today, where they add warmth, personality and a more sustainable alternative to new production. For collectors, figurine number 1486 and the year 1913 are important details, because they help identify the model precisely and distinguish it from other Royal Copenhagen animal figurines.
