Royal Copenhagen Potato Gatherer figurine no. 1549

The Potato Gatherer from Royal Copenhagen is a porcelain figurine with a motif that draws its strength from simple work and life in the countryside. The figurine shows a woman bent over her basket, absorbed in the day's harvest, and it is precisely that calm movement that gives the motif presence and character. It is an agricultural figurine with a clear connection to farm life, field work, and the Danish story of the toil and dignity of everyday life.

Christian Thomsen has created a figurine in which pose and details work beautifully together. The woman wears a headscarf, blue top, light apron, and greyish skirt, while she holds a bucket beside the woven basket filled with potatoes. The soft shapes and the balanced underglaze give the figurine a calm expression, and from all angles it is experienced as well thought out and lifelike. It is precisely the kind of porcelain figurine that appeals both to collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines and to you who appreciate classic motifs from farming life and craftsmanship.

As a vintage figurine, the Potato Gatherer also holds a special charm. Older porcelain figurines like this bring history, personality, and fine craftsmanship into the home, and at the same time they are a sustainable choice for you who would like to give quality design new life. The figurine fits beautifully in a collection of Danish figurines, but can also stand alone on the shelf, on the sideboard, or in the display cabinet, where the motif is allowed to tell its own story.

This Royal Copenhagen figurine is a fine choice for collectors of Christian Thomsen, for you who are interested in peasant figurines and agricultural figurines, or as a gift for someone who appreciates Danish porcelain with soul and cultural history. It combines decorative value with storytelling and is a classic example of how Royal Copenhagen has managed to elevate the motif of everyday life into artistic form.
