Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 1847 The Emperor - Christian Thomsen

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 1847 depicts The Emperor in the company of another figure, both executed with a calm, narrative expression and in costumes with clear oriental-inspired features. The figurine has a fine, scenic composition, where the two persons stand close together with raised hands and turned faces, as if they are listening, speaking, or are in the middle of a moment from a story. This brings the porcelain figurine to life and makes it an atmospheric collector's item for both figurine enthusiasts and fans of classic Danish design.

Christian Thomsen designed the figurine for Royal Copenhagen, and the motif is executed in porcelain with underglaze. The soft blue, grey, green, and white shades suit the model beautifully and emphasize the calm, poetic atmosphere. The long robe, the wide sleeves, the headwear, and the slender base help give the figurine character, while the expressions on the faces and the elegant hand gestures make the motif vivid when seen from several angles.

It is precisely this combination of storytelling, craftsmanship, and classic porcelain art that makes Royal Copenhagen figurines so sought-after. Figurine no. 1847 fits well in a collection of fairy-tale figurines, human figurines, and older Danish porcelain, but it also works beautifully on its own on the shelf, on the display cabinet's shelf, or as a personal gift for a collector. Older porcelain figurines like this contain both history and durability, and they add a special soul to the home that is difficult to find in new production.

A figurine like this is also a good choice for you who enjoy decorating with crafts and classic design objects with character. It stands decoratively both among other Royal Copenhagen figurines and together with porcelain, books, and small art objects, where its narrative motif truly comes into its own.
