Royal Copenhagen doe with fawn figurine 20552 Knud Kyhn 35,5 cm

Royal Copenhagen doe with fawn figurine no. 20552 is a striking stoneware figurine with a calm, lifelike expression and a strong presence in the room. Knud Kyhn was known for his animal figurines, and here he has captured the quiet moment between mother animal and young with a simplicity that gives the figurine both warmth and weight. The motif has a fine balance between the natural and the stylized, so the figurine appears lively without losing its sculptural character.

The large figurine is made of stoneware and stands in a beautiful, subdued glaze with shades of greenish, brownish and darker tones, which emphasize the forms in the animal's body and the terrain at the base. From all angles, the model is experienced differently: from the front, one encounters the doe's attentive gaze, while the side and the back highlight the interplay between the animal and the young. This gives the figurine a decorative strength that makes it suitable both as a solitary piece on a shelf, sideboard or console and as part of a larger collection of Danish stoneware and animal figurines.

As a vintage Royal Copenhagen figurine, it also contains the special joy that lies in choosing design with history and longevity. Knud Kyhn's animal figurines are sought after among collectors, but they function just as well in a contemporary home, where they add personality, materiality and a more sensuous expression than many newer interior objects. It is precisely the type of ceramics that is created to last and to continue to be used and appreciated through generations.

This Royal Copenhagen figurine is therefore an obvious choice for collectors of Knud Kyhn, for those who appreciate Danish animal figurines in stoneware, or as a gift for someone who appreciates classic Danish design with a nature motif.
