Royal Copenhagen figurine Chinese opium smoker no. 2342

Royal Copenhagen figurine "Chinese opium smoker" no. 2342 is a distinctive porcelain figurine with a calm, thoughtful expression and a striking silhouette. The figurine is made in white porcelain, where the glossy underglaze highlights the soft lines of the robe, the kneeling position, and the fine details in the face, hands, and hairstyle. It is precisely this simple white execution that gives the figurine its quiet strength and makes the motif decorative from all angles.

The motif has an orientalist character, which is also found in older figurative art, where exotic environments and depictions of people were interpreted in porcelain. Here the expression is concentrated and almost meditative, while the long pipe and the seated posture focus attention on the figurine's narrative. Arno Malinowski is behind the model, and his sure sense of form and movement is evident in the harmonious composition and the elegant balance between detail and simplicity.

As a porcelain figurine from Royal Copenhagen, this model appeals both to collectors of Danish figurines and to those seeking a sculptural figurine with history and personality for the interior. The white glaze makes it easy to place in both classic and modern homes, where it can stand alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as part of a collection with other white porcelain figurines. Older porcelain like this is at the same time a beautiful choice for those who appreciate good craftsmanship and the joy of letting design with history live on.

It is also a figurine that speaks to the collector who is looking specifically for Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 2342 or works by Arno Malinowski. It combines collectible value, artistic character, and decorative calm in a way that makes it interesting both as a standalone object and as part of a larger group of figurines.
