Royal Copenhagen elephant figurine no. 2998 by Knud Kyhn

Royal Copenhagen elephant figurine no. 2998 is a classic porcelain figurine with the lively and lifelike expression for which Knud Kyhn is known. The elephant stands in motion with raised trunk and pronounced tusks, which gives the figurine a fine sense of energy, strength and personality. The soft modelling and the rounded shapes make the motif appear both calm and full of character at the same time.

The grey underglaze highlights the figurine's shapes in a beautiful and subdued way. In the pictures, a glossy glaze surface can be seen with fine transitions in the grey shades, which add depth to the body, the ears and the details of the head. The white tusks stand in beautiful contrast to the grey colour and emphasise the figurine's expression. The combination of the naturalistic form and the calm glaze makes this elephant figurine a strong example of Danish porcelain design.

Knud Kyhn often worked with animal motifs, and here in particular his sure eye for movement and anatomy is evident. The figurine fits beautifully into a collection of Royal Copenhagen figurines, but also works really well on its own on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as a decorative feature in the living room, office or entrance hall. It is ideal for those who are fond of porcelain figurines, animal figurines and Danish design with history.

An older porcelain figurine like this has a special charm because it brings both craftsmanship, tradition and personality into the home. It is also a nice way to choose something that has already been created to last and can continue to bring joy for many years to come. As a gift idea, an elephant is also a popular symbol of strength, luck and warm memories.
