Royal Copenhagen sculpin fish figurine no. 371 Andresen porcelain

Royal Copenhagen fish figurine no. 371 depicts a sculpin with an unusually vivid and characterful expression. The figurine is modeled closely on the distinctive fish life of the seabed, where the broad body, the large pectoral fins, and the prominent head give the motif both weight and movement. The blue-gray tones over the back, the light areas along the belly, and the striped fins emphasize the figurine's lifelike effect and make it an eye-catching piece of Danish porcelain art.

It is a porcelain figurine with underglaze, and it is precisely the depth of the glaze that helps highlight the model's details. From the side and from the front, the sculpin's large eyes, open mouth, and ridged fins are experienced very clearly, and the figurine has a sculptural quality that makes it decorative both in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or as part of a collection of Royal Copenhagen animal figurines. The design is listed as Andresen (1894-1922), and model number 371 is an important identification for collectors.

This Royal Copenhagen sculpin is at the same time a figurine with history and personality. Older porcelain figurines like this add something different to the home than new production: character, craftsmanship, and story. It is well suited to collectors of fish figurines, maritime motifs, and classic Danish porcelain, but can also stand alone as a distinctive feature in the interior.

Please note that the figurine in the current registration is described as having a very small repair on the tail fin. As this already appears in the original title, it is important to include for identification of the specific item. The figurine is also described as very rare, which makes it especially interesting for collectors of older Royal Copenhagen figurines.
