Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4060 or 60 Boy with dolphin

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4060 or 60 shows a boy with a dolphin in a lively and dynamic composition, where the motif unites childhood, play and the world of the sea. The figurine is made in white porcelain and appears with the soft, coherent forms that give the motif calm, light and an almost sculptural lightness. The boy's turned upper body, the raised arm and the dolphin's rounded body together create a motif with both energy and balance.

The design is by Kai Nielsen, who is known for his figurine models with a sense of movement, anatomy and narrative. Here the expression is simple, yet at the same time full of life. The white Blanc de Chine technique emphasizes the figurine's formal qualities and lets the light glide across the surface so that the modelling stands out clearly. It is precisely this that makes this porcelain figurine a strong choice for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines and for those who appreciate classic Danish figurative art.

The motif of the boy and the dolphin gives the figurine a maritime atmosphere that fits beautifully into both classic and modern homes. It can stand alone as a decorative porcelain figurine on the shelf, in the display cabinet or on a chest of drawers, but it can also be combined with other white figurines, so that you create a calm and personal arrangement. For collectors, the figurine number is an important detail, and for gift buyers this is a figurine with a motif that speaks to both nostalgia, design interest and the joy of fine craftsmanship.

Older porcelain figurines like this one have a special charm because they are created to last and to be appreciated through generations. Choosing original porcelain with history is also a beautiful way to bring sustainability, quality and personality into the interior. At DPH - Danish Porcelain House, precisely such figurines are valued for their ability still to feel relevant and present in a contemporary home.
