Rörstrand Christmas plate 1973 Småland - Emigration to America

Rörstrand Christmas plate 1973 is an atmospheric blue-white Christmas plate with the motif "Småland", inspired by Selma Lagerlöf's tale of Nils Holgersson. The year's motif is connected to the Swedish emigration to America and shows the interior of a traditional farm in Småland, where everyday life, the details of the home and the family's history are allowed to come forward in the fine decoration. It is a Rörstrand Christmas plate with narrative, depth and a clear anchoring in Swedish cultural history.

On the plate, an indoor scene from peasant society is seen, where furniture, light, pictures on the wall and the open door to the stable create a special sense of closeness. The motif conveys the thought of the many families whose children and grandchildren traveled away, and precisely for that reason this year carries a quiet, contemplative atmosphere. The Swedish title "Småland" can here be understood as a tribute to the region and its history, while the motif at the same time tells of the emigration to America.

The Christmas plate is designed by Gunnar Nylund, who is behind a long series of sought-after Rörstrand motifs. His design language combines narrative, geography and Swedish identity in a decorative composition that makes each year interesting for both collectors and those who simply appreciate Swedish porcelain with character. The blue-white color scale gives the plate a classic expression, which fits beautifully into both traditional and modern homes.

Rörstrand Christmas plates from this series can be used in several ways. With a diameter of 19 cm and holes on the back, it is ideal as wall decoration, alone or together with other years. At the same time, it can also be used as a plate for lunch, cake or small servings, so that it does not only become a collector's item, but a part of everyday life. This makes older quality design like this a joy to preserve and continue using generation after generation.

For you who are looking for a Rörstrand Christmas plate 1973, a Swedish Christmas plate or a piece of Gunnar Nylund design with history, this year is a fine choice with both soul and a cultural-historical narrative.
