About the product
1979 Royal Copenhagen Christmas plate, designed by Kaj Lange, has the title Choosing a Christmas Tree. Royal Copenhagen's Christmas plate from 1979 depicts a family choosing their Christmas tree. Among the many traditions upheld at Christmastime the decorated Christmas tree occupies an important place. So firmly is the custom associated with Christmas celebrations that most people assume it must be of a venerable age, stemming from the dim and ancient past. In actual fact, nobody knows for certain when it originated, but it can hardly be more than about 150 years ago. From Germany it spread, first to Scandi- navia,, and thereafter to large parts of the world. In the month of December, many families make an excursion to the nearest forest, to select the prettiest Christmas tree. Not until the Christmas tree is brought safely home are Christmas preparations really beginning to take shape.
