Royal Copenhagen cygnets figurine no. 363 Allan Therkelsen

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 363 with two cygnets is a porcelain figurine with a calm and intimate expression. The two cygnets lie close together in a low, soft composition, where one chick rests with its head bent down, while the other raises its head slightly. The motif gives the figurine a quiet story of security, togetherness and the peaceful life by the lakeshore, and precisely for that reason it is an obvious choice for collectors of bird figurines and animal figurines in porcelain.

Allan Therkelsen has created a figurine where the forms are simple, yet lively. The rounded bodies, the finely modelled feathers and the discreet grey-blue tones at the beaks, eyes and feet provide contrast to the white glaze and emphasize the naturalistic expression. The figurine appears harmonious from all angles and has the calm character that many associate with classic Royal Copenhagen figurines.

As a porcelain figurine in underglaze, the model has the depth and durability that make older quality figurines sought-after. It is a type of decorative art and collector's item that is created to be preserved, moved through life and passed on. If one chooses older porcelain with history, one gets not just a beautiful motif, but also a sustainable alternative to new production and a piece of Danish design that still fits naturally into modern interiors.

The figurine is easy to place on a shelf, in a display cabinet or on a small table, where its calm form is allowed to stand out. It can also be combined with other Royal Copenhagen bird figurines or white porcelain figurines for a unified, subdued expression. As a gift, it is particularly suitable for someone who is fond of bird motifs, Danish porcelain or small artistic objects with soul.
