Royal Copenhagen Else sleeping figure no. 675 - girl lying with teddy bear

Else sleeping is one of the most atmospheric child figures from Royal Copenhagen. The figure shows a little girl lying safely on her side with her head on a white pillow and her arms around her teddy bear. The calm sleeping position, the soft lines, and the quiet narrative make this porcelain figure a charming motif for collectors of child figures and classic Danish porcelain.

The motif is intimate and recognisable: the child, the teddy bear, and the peaceful sleep. On the figure, Else is seen in a blue outfit, while the pillow is decorated with small red dots, which provide a fine play of colour to the otherwise calm composition. This very type of figure is loved for its ability to capture everyday moments with warmth and personality, and the Else and Jens figures have over time gained a special place with many collectors.

The figure is designed by Ingeborg Plockross-Irminger, who is known for her lively and human child motifs. Here, the narrative motif is united with Royal Copenhagen's assured design language and porcelain craftsmanship. The underglaze technique supports the figure's calm expression and the soft transitions in the colours. As a vintage porcelain figure, it also has the special quality that it brings history and soul into the interior. This is precisely part of the joy of older porcelain: that beautiful things, created to last, can still create presence in a modern home.

Else sleeping fits nicely on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as part of a collection with Else and Jens figures from Royal Copenhagen. It is also ideal as a gift for a collector or for someone who loves classic child figures in porcelain with a calm and homely expression.
