Royal Copenhagen musk ox with calf figurine 089 16 cm

Royal Copenhagen figurine 089 depicts a musk ox with calf in a calm and close composition, where the mother animal bends its head protectively down toward the young. The motif has a strong narrative of closeness, care and the calm of nature, and the figurine therefore fits beautifully among classic animal figurines and Danish porcelain design with character.

Allan Therkelsen has modelled the figurine with a fine eye for the animals' heavy bodies and dense fur, which is clearly seen in the marked structural details. In the pictures, the glaze appears in deep brown tones with light areas at the muzzle, horns and legs, which gives the figurine both weight and life. The underglaze decoration supports the natural expression and the glossy surface highlights the movement of the fur in a vivid way.

As a porcelain figurine from Royal Copenhagen, this musk ox with calf appeals both to collectors and to those who want an animal figurine with warmth and personality in the décor. It looks beautiful on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a collection of animal figurines and Nordic porcelain. At the same time, it is a figurine with history and lasting value, created to be appreciated for many years to come.
