Bing & Grøndahl pig with eight piglets figure no. 1583

Bing & Grøndahl figure no. 1583 depicts a sow surrounded by eight piglets in a vivid and narrative composition that makes the figure ideal for collectors of Danish animal figures and classic porcelain. The motif has a calm, rural atmosphere, where the piglets lie and seek close to the sow, while her relaxed position gives the figure both warmth and weight.

Jens Peter Dahl Jensen has modelled the motif with an eye for the animals' anatomy and movement. The sow's broad body, the soft folds and the many piglets gathered around her give the figure life and character, without the expression becoming exaggerated. It is precisely the naturalistic modelling and the fine balance between narrative and form that make Bing & Grøndahl figures sought after among collectors of Danish porcelain art.

As a porcelain figure, this pig with eight piglets fits beautifully into both a classic display cabinet collection and a more personal interior, where older design objects are allowed to create soul. The figure is also an obvious gift idea for anyone who appreciates rural motifs, Danish animal figures or works by Dahl-Jensen. When you choose older porcelain with a history, you are simultaneously choosing a piece of craftsmanship that was created to be preserved and appreciated through generations.

This Bing & Grøndahl figure has a motif that stands out in the collection because it contains both narrative, richness of detail and a motif from everyday life, rendered in porcelain with great confidence. This makes figure no. 1583 an interesting choice for both experienced collectors and for you who want one distinctive porcelain figure with character.
