Bing & Grøndahl carp pair figurine no. 1590 Carl Mortensen

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 1590 depicts a pair of carp in close movement, modelled as a unified composition with fine lines and a lively expression. The two fish wind over each other, giving the figurine a beautiful sense of calm, weight, and movement at the same time. The motif makes it ideal for you who are looking for a classic porcelain figurine with a nature motif and strong design.

The figurine is made after a model by Carl Mortensen, who is known for his naturalistic animal figurines for Bing & Grøndahl. Here the bodies of the carp are rendered with distinct fins, curved backs, and a composition that gives the figurine character from several angles. The underglazed execution supports the calm and thoroughly worked expression that many collectors and interior enthusiasts associate with Danish porcelain from Bing & Grøndahl.

A fish figurine like this fits beautifully in a bookcase, a display cabinet, or as part of a collection of animal figurines in porcelain. It can also stand alone as a decorative feature, where the motif adds a more organic and artistic touch to the home. For collectors, figurine number 1590 is at the same time an important detail, because the model number makes the figurine easy to identify and distinguish from other Bing & Grøndahl figurines with a fish motif.

At DPH - Danish Porcelain House, we value porcelain figurines that unite craftsmanship, history, and strong form. This Bing & Grøndahl carp figurine is a good choice for both collectors of Danish porcelain and for you who want a decorative figurine with a calm, nature-inspired motif.
