Bing & Grøndahl swallow no. 1775 stoneware figurine by Dahl-Jensen

Bing & Grøndahl swallow no. 1775 is a characterful bird figurine in stoneware that captures the swallow's light and vigilant nature with great assurance. The figurine shows a swallow in a forward-leaning posture, where the streamlined body, the long tail and the focused gaze give the motif both vitality and calm. The dark tones on the back and wings stand in fine contrast to the lighter underside, while the naturally shaped base in brownish shades supports the bird motif in a simple and effective way.

The figurine is created by Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen for Bing & Grøndahl, and it clearly bears the mark of his sure sense of the animals' proportions and movement. Bird figurines from Bing & Grøndahl in particular are sought after among collectors, and this swallow has an expression that appeals both to the experienced collector and to you who are looking for Danish design with a motif from the world of nature. The materiality of the stoneware gives the figurine a special weight and warmth that suits the simple motif.

As an older design figurine, this swallow contains both history and lasting value. It fits beautifully in a display cabinet, on a shelf or as part of an arrangement with other bird figurines, porcelain figurines or Danish decorative arts. At the same time, it is a sustainable choice to give quality design with age and soul new life in a modern home. The figurine is also well suited as a gift for the bird lover, the collector or the one who is fond of classic Danish ceramics and stoneware figurines.
