Bing & Grøndahl Linnet porcelain figurine no. 2020, 11.5 cm

Bing & Grøndahl Linnet no. 2020 is a porcelain figurine with a calm and lifelike expression, which makes it a beautiful choice for both collectors and bird enthusiasts. The small bird is modelled sitting upright on a leaf-shaped base, and the overall piece has the quiet balance that characterizes the best classic bird figurines in Danish porcelain. The soft shades of brown, grey and white emphasize the motif's natural character, while the darker wing markings give the figurine life and depth.

The motif is executed by Francis Valdemar Platen-Hallermundt, who is known for his bird figurines with an eye for both the species' characteristics and the bird's posture. Here the linnet is depicted with a simple, upright posture and an alert expression that gives the figurine presence without seeming heavy. The light leaf base in a green tone lifts the motif nicely and creates a decorative transition between bird and nature.

As a Bing & Grøndahl figurine in porcelain and underglaze, the model contains the classic combination of precise shaping and soft glaze that many associate with older Danish porcelain art. It is precisely this kind of bird figurine that fits well in a display cabinet collection, on a shelf or in a windowsill, where the light can play in the glaze. The figurine can also be combined with other bird figurines or animal figurines to create a personal collection inspired by nature.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special charm because they are created to last and can still bring joy in a modern home. Choosing vintage porcelain is at the same time a way to give fine craftsmanship new life. The linnet is therefore both a decorative feature and a piece of Danish design history, which also makes it well suited as a gift for a collector or a bird friend.
