Bing & Grøndahl wire-haired fox terrier dog figurine no. 2086

Bing & Grøndahl dog figurine no. 2086 depicts a standing wire-haired fox terrier with the alert, attentive expression for which the breed is known. The figurine has an upright posture, raised tail and a lively, natural form language that gives it plenty of character. The light glaze is combined with darker markings, which highlight the dog's head and back and emphasize the figurine's fine details.

It is a porcelain figurine that suits both collectors of Bing & Grøndahl, dog figurines and classic Danish porcelain. The motif is simple and precisely modeled, and that is precisely what makes the figurine easy to place in the home. It works beautifully in a display cabinet, on a shelf or as a small decorative detail among other porcelain, glass and Nordic design. For the dog lover, it is also an obvious gift idea with personality and history.

The underglaze decoration gives the surface a calm and harmonious expression that suits the motif well. The standing terrier has a fine balance between lifelike depiction and the stylish simplicity associated with many older porcelain figurines from Bing & Grøndahl. This makes figurine no. 2086 interesting both as decorative art and as a collector's item.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special ability to add soul to the home. They are created to last a long time and can still be beautifully incorporated into a modern interior, where they contribute personality, craftsmanship and the joy of choosing items with history rather than new production.
