Svend Lindhart Hear no evil no. 2496 Bing & Grøndahl terracotta figurine

Svend Lindhart's figurine Hear no evil no. 2496 is a characterful terracotta figurine, where the simple motif tells surprisingly much. The figurine depicts a child holding its hands up to its ears, and the calm, closed posture gives the motif both reflection and personality. It is precisely the type of figurine that catches the eye in the interior and continues to arouse interest because the expression is so clear and human.

As part of the series The three virtues, the figurine relates to the well-known motif of hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil. Here the interpretation is soft and stylized, with Svend Lindhart's sure sense of the child's body language and simplified forms. The light terracotta and the matte surface emphasize the figurine's warm and earthy expression, while the slender construction and the small round base give it a calm and harmonious overall impression.

Bing & Grøndahl figurines and older design figurines like this one have a special ability to add soul and history to the home. A vintage terracotta figurine is not just decorative, but also a sustainable choice for those who appreciate good craftsmanship and wish to preserve older crafts created to last. The figurine fits beautifully in a bookcase, on a chest of drawers or in a collection of Danish figurines, where its motif and design language are allowed to stand out clearly.

For collectors of Svend Lindhart, Bing & Grøndahl and Danish child figurines, Hear no evil no. 2496 is an interesting piece with both artistic and collector appeal. It also works well as a gift for someone who loves classic Danish design, figurines with symbolism or decorative art with history.
