Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4028 woman with children Blanc de Chine

Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 4028 is a poetic porcelain figurine with a standing woman surrounded by children. The motif has an almost dreamlike expression, where the adult figure appears calm and upright, while the children curl closely around her and create a lively, sculptural whole. The white Blanc de Chine execution emphasizes the soft lines of the form and gives the figurine a classic, pure and calm expression that fits beautifully into both modern and more traditional interiors.

The figurine is made after a design by Kai Nielsen, who is known for his strong, harmonious compositions and his ability to give human figures life and movement. Here, it is the interplay between the woman and the children that carries the narrative. The vertical structure, the rounded shapes and the close grouping give the figurine a particular intimacy, which makes it interesting to view from several angles.

As a porcelain figurine from Bing & Grøndahl, this model belongs to the type of Danish figurative art that many collectors are especially fond of. The Blanc de Chine technique lets the motif stand out clearly without disturbing decoration, so the eye focuses on the modeling, the posture and the figures' mutual relationship. This also makes the figurine suitable as a solitary piece on a shelf, in a display cabinet or on a chest of drawers, where the light can highlight the fine transitions in the surface of the porcelain.

Older porcelain figurines like this one contain both artistic quality and history. They are created to last, to collect and to be enjoyed over many years, and they add personality to the home in a way that new production can rarely imitate. Therefore, a vintage Bing & Grøndahl figurine is also a sustainable choice for anyone who wants to decorate thoughtfully and with an appreciation for Danish design tradition.

This figurine can be an obvious choice for the collector of Kai Nielsen, for someone who is fond of classic human figurines, or as a gift for someone who appreciates Danish porcelain with artistic substance.
