Ipsen figur girl squatting with small shovel "Arbejdslyst" Kai Nielsen

This Ipsen figure of a girl squatting with a small shovel has a calm and present expression that makes it easy to notice in the interior. The figure is rendered in a green color, and the motif shows a child absorbed in her own little task. The low seated position, the bowed head, and the outstretched arm with the shovel give the figure life and a fine sense of concentration and willingness to work.

The motif "Arbejdslyst" suits the mood of the figure beautifully. This is not a matter of great drama, but of everyday joy and the child's natural absorption in play and chores. It is precisely this kind of child figures that has a special charm, because they capture a moment many can recognize, and because they bring warmth, personality, and history into the home.

The figure is made by Ipsen and associated with Kai Nielsen, who is known for his lively and characterful figures. The green surface emphasizes the figure's soft forms and gives it a unified, harmonious expression. As a vintage figure, it also contains the special value found in older craftsmanship and design-created decorative art: quality, durability, and the joy of letting beautiful objects gain new life in a modern home.

A child figure like this can stand alone on a shelf, on a chest of drawers, or in a display cabinet, but it also works well together with other ceramic figures, sculptures, or classic Danish design. For collectors of Ipsen figures and for those who appreciate figures with children, play, and everyday scenes, this is a motif with both character and soul. It is also an obvious gift idea for a collector or for someone who appreciates Danish figurative art with history.
