Dahl Jensen polar bear figurine no. 1126 - walking polar bear 23 cm

This Dahl Jensen polar bear figurine no. 1126 depicts a walking polar bear in a calm, purposeful moment. The figurine has an elongated posture with the head slightly forward and paws in motion, which gives the motif life and direction. The light glaze with soft grey-toned nuances emphasizes the bear's fur and shapes in a subdued and natural way, so the expression appears both strong and harmonious.

Jens Peter Dahl Jensen is known for his animal figurines, where movement and character play a central role, and that is clearly felt here. The polar bear is modelled with a focus on anatomy and balance, so the figurine appears convincing from every angle. The snout, the small ears, the pronounced shoulders and the broad paws all help give the figurine a lively character, while the glazed porcelain surface adds light and depth.

As a porcelain figurine, this walking polar bear fits beautifully in a collection of Danish animal figurines, but it also works well on its own on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as a decorative feature in a Nordic interior. The motif has both calm and gravitas, and that is precisely why it is a figurine one notices without it seeming heavy in expression. For collectors of Dahl Jensen figurines, model number 1126 is an important detail, and for the design enthusiast it is a classic porcelain figurine with clear character.

Older porcelain figurines like this one have a special ability to add personality to the home. They are created with care and craftsmanship quality, and they deserve to be used, displayed and preserved. Choosing a figurine with history is also a lovely way to bring enduring design forward into a modern home.
