Royal Copenhagen elephant figurine 1373 Axel Locher 24 x 34 cm

Royal Copenhagen elephant figurine no. 1373 is a striking porcelain figurine with a strong presence and a calm, naturalistic expression. The elephant stands with its trunk raised, visible tusks and a strong, rounded body that gives the figurine both weight and movement. The glossy underglaze highlights the soft transitions in the modelling and gives the surface life when the light hits it.

The motif is classic Royal Copenhagen: animals rendered with respect for form and character. Here, it is the elephant's calm strength that is at the centre. The grey nuances in the glaze, the light ears and the ivory-coloured tusks create a beautiful contrast that makes the figurine decorative from every angle. It is exactly the type of porcelain figurine that works both as a collector's item and as a characterful detail in the interior, whether it is placed on a shelf, on a side table or in a display cabinet.

The artist is listed as Axel Locher, and the figurine's number 1373 makes it easily recognisable for collectors of older Royal Copenhagen animal figurines. The relatively large size gives the figurine a special presence, and it fits well into an interior where one would like to mix classic Danish porcelain with personal finds and design with history. When one chooses an older porcelain figurine like this, one gets not just a decorative object, but also a piece of design created to last and to be appreciated for many years to come.

A Royal Copenhagen elephant like this is also an obvious gift idea for collectors, for the design enthusiast or for the person who loves animal figurines in porcelain with a classic expression. The figurine has enough gravitas to stand alone, but can also be combined with other animal figurines from Royal Copenhagen for a more personal and lively expression in the home.
