Royal Copenhagen Leda and the Swan figurine no. 2053

Royal Copenhagen figurine no. 2053 with the motif Leda and the Swan is a porcelain figurine with a distinctive classical expression and a story that draws threads to mythology and art history. The figurine shows a seated woman closely embraced by the swan, while the large wings unfold around the motif and create an almost stage-like composition. This gives the figurine a calm, dramatic, and decorative presence, making it ideal as an art figurine in the interior.

Hans H. Hansen has created a motif where soft lines and elegant curves unite the human figure and bird into one whole. In the pictures, the glossy porcelain surface can be seen combined with fine details in the decoration, including in the hair, the draperies, and the discreet ornaments along the base. The unfolded swan wings give the figurine width and character, while the light glaze emphasizes the sculptural expression.

As a Royal Copenhagen porcelain figurine, this model appeals both to collectors of Danish figurines and to those who want a figurine with a clear narrative and historical atmosphere. The motif Leda and the Swan has long held a special place in the European art tradition, and here it is interpreted as a decorative art figurine in porcelain with great visual impact. Underglaze contributes to the classical and durable expression that many associate with older quality craftsmanship from Royal Copenhagen.

A figurine like this fits beautifully in a bookcase, in a display cabinet, or as a solitary piece on a chest of drawers, where the form can be experienced from several sides. For collectors and those interested in interior design, it is also a fine way to bring older porcelain art forward into a modern home. Choosing vintage porcelain with history is at the same time a sustainable way to preserve good craftsmanship and give it new life.
