Royal Copenhagen bowl or card tray with finches no. 373

Royal Copenhagen bowl or card tray with finches no. 373 is a characterful piece of Danish porcelain, where decorative art and bird figurine meet in one and the same form. The low, oval bowl rises gently toward one side, where two finches sit close together, while a third bird bends down over the edge on the opposite side. The motif gives the object life and movement and creates a calm atmosphere with clear inspiration from nature's small moments.

The colors are kept in the classic gray-blue shades that many associate with older Royal Copenhagen porcelain. The glossy glaze highlights the shapes and plumage of the modeled birds, and inside the bowl a discreet floral decoration can be glimpsed, adding yet another fine detail. The overall impression is both sculptural and harmonious, and it is precisely the combination of bowl and bird motif that makes the model particularly appealing to both collectors and those seeking decorative porcelain with personality.

The design was created by Theodor Madsen for Royal Copenhagen. His work with animal motifs is appreciated for the natural poses and the calm, lifelike character, and this is clearly expressed here. The bowl is made of porcelain with underglaze decoration, which supports the classic expression and the solid quality that has made Danish porcelain sought after through generations.

As a bowl or card tray, the model can be used for small items on the desk, business cards in the hallway, or as a decorative element in the display cabinet, on the dresser, or on the shelf. It also works beautifully together with other bird figurines, bowls, and porcelain pieces in blue, gray, and white tones. For those who love vintage porcelain, this is also a sustainable choice - a piece of design with history and soul, which can still be used and appreciated in the modern home.
