Bing & Grøndahl eagle figurine no. 1795 by Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen with repair

Large and striking porcelain figurine of an eagle from Bing & Grøndahl, model no. 1795, designed by Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen. The figurine shows the bird of prey standing high and calmly on a rock base, with an upright posture, sharp gaze, and the beak slightly emphasized. This gives the figurine an authoritative expression, making it a strong eye-catcher in the interior and a sought-after collector's item for those who appreciate Danish porcelain figurines and bird figurines.

The colors are in shades of brown, gray, and white, which emphasize the eagle's lifelike character. The dense, layered plumage is modeled with great precision, and the underglaze gives the surface depth and sheen, so the light plays beautifully across the wings, chest, and neck. The rock base elevates the motif both visually and narratively and gives the figurine a calm weight that suits the powerful bird.

Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen is known for his lively animal figurines, and this is clearly seen here, where anatomy, posture, and character come together in perfect harmony. The signature "Dahl-Jensen" can be seen on the base and underlines the figurine's connection to one of the great figures within Danish figurative art. Bing & Grøndahl eagle no. 1795 fits beautifully in a collection of B&G bird figurines, but also stands convincingly alone in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or on a desk.

Older porcelain figurines like this carry history, craftsmanship, and personality with them. It is precisely the type of object that adds soul to the home and makes the interior more individual, while allowing beautiful Danish porcelain to live on and be appreciated anew.
