Royal Copenhagen musk ox figurine 530 repaired at the horns

Royal Copenhagen figurine 530 depicts a musk ox with a remarkable weight and calm. The broad body, the lowered head and the prominent horns give the figurine a strong expression, while the glaze's soft shades of grey, brown-grey and white highlight the animal's dense coat and powerful silhouette. The figurine stands on a naturalistic base, which supports the motif's Nordic and rugged character.

The musk ox is a motif that stands out among classic animal figurines in porcelain. Here, the form is modelled with great attention to the animal's volume and movement, so that the figurine appears both massive and lifelike from all angles. The flowing colour transitions in the underglaze give the surface depth and suit Royal Copenhagen's tradition for naturalistic animal motifs beautifully.

The artist is Erik Nielsen, and the figurine belongs to the older Royal Copenhagen models, which today hold great interest among collectors of Danish porcelain and animal figurines. The musk ox in particular is an unusual motif, and model number 530 is therefore relevant for collectors seeking a specific figurine for the collection. At the same time, it is a porcelain figurine with character, which also works beautifully on its own in the interior on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a larger collection of classic animal figurines.

This specific figurine is sold as repaired at the horns, which is also significant for this particular model. For many collectors and interior enthusiasts, it can still be an obvious opportunity to acquire a rarer Royal Copenhagen figurine with history, patina and a distinctive expression. Older porcelain figurines like this contain both craftsmanship, cultural history and the joy of preserving quality objects that can still have a visible place in the home.
