About the item
Karl XI born 24th November 1655 as son of Karl X Gustav and Hedvig Eleonora of Holstein-Gottorp. King at his father's death in 13th February 1660 and of legal age 18th December 1672. Crowned in Uppsala 1675. Died 5th April 1697. Buried in Riddarholmskyrkan in Stockholm. Married 1680 with Ulrika Eleonora of Denmark. Motto: The Lord has become my protector. In God my destiny He shall bring it about himself. Portrait from painting by David Klöker Ehrenstrahl.
