Boy in raincoat Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 2532 or 532

This Bing & Grøndahl figurine depicts a boy in a raincoat, rendered with a calm and everyday expression that makes the figurine easy to cherish. The dark blue raincoat with hood gives the motif character and creates an atmosphere of childhood, rainy days and small moments from everyday life. It is precisely this simple story that makes the porcelain figurine both vivid and present in the interior.

The boy stands upright with his hands in the coat pockets, and the closed raincoat as well as the bare legs and feet give the figurine a fine, recognizable expression. The colors and the soft shapes emphasize the classic expression that many collectors associate with Bing & Grøndahl figurines. As a child figurine, it has both warmth and personality, and it fits beautifully among other porcelain figurines with children, everyday motifs and Danish figurative art.

The figurine is designed by Søren Brunoe and made in porcelain with underglaze, which helps give the surface depth and durability. Søren Brunoe's figurines are appreciated for their natural depictions of people, and here the motif is interpreted with a fine balance between simplicity and character. This makes the figurine interesting both for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl porcelain and for those who want a decorative figurine with classic Danish design tradition.

A porcelain figurine like this works beautifully on a shelf, in a display cabinet or as part of a personal arrangement with other vintage figurines and decorative objects. At the same time, it is a sustainable way to choose quality design with history and soul. Older porcelain figurines, which are created to last through generations, add something personal and lasting to the home that new production can rarely replace.
