Bing & Grøndahl The Little Gypsy Girl no. 548 or 2548

The Little Gypsy Girl from Bing & Grøndahl is a porcelain figurine with a dreamy and theatrical expression, which fits beautifully into the collection of costumed child figures. The figurine depicts a girl with a tambourine, pink headwear and a light dress with blue details. Her slightly lifted face and calm posture give the figurine a poetic touch, while the tambourine emphasizes the story of play, fantasy and the children's world.

The figurine belongs to the series Children's Fantastic World, also known as The Make Believe World of Children, created by Carl Lomoupo. The series is loved for its imaginative child motifs, where dressing up, role play and little stories take shape in porcelain. Here it is precisely the interplay between the child's innocence, the character of the costume and the soft modelling that makes the figurine come alive in a quiet and present way.

This porcelain figurine is made of porcelain and hand-decorated in underglaze, a technique for which Bing & Grøndahl is known. The gentle color transitions in white, blue and pink suit the motif nicely and give the figurine depth. It works both as a standalone decoration and as an obvious part of a complete display with the other figurines from the series. On a shelf, in a display cabinet or together with other classic child figurines, it adds personality, nostalgia and collector's joy.

For collectors of Bing & Grøndahl and Royal Copenhagen figurines, The Little Gypsy Girl is a charming find with a clear connection to the popular series. Older porcelain figurines like this are made to last, and they bring both history and craftsmanship into the modern home. This also makes it a fine choice for those who appreciate vintage porcelain and would like to give beautiful design new life.
