The Little Witch figurine Bing & Grøndahl no. 549 or 2549

The Little Witch is an atmospheric porcelain figurine from Bing & Grøndåhl, combining the fantasy of childhood with classic Scandinavian figurative art. The motif shows a dressed-up girl as a witch with a broom in her hands, wearing a long cape and a pointed witch's hat. The hat is decorated with small stars, and the figurine's calm facial expression and slightly shy posture give it a lovely fairy-tale character, making it ideal for collectors of children's figurines and figurines with a story.

The figurine belongs to the series Children's Fantastic World, in English The Make Believe World of Children, created by Carl Lomoupo. The series is known for its children in imaginative roles and costumes, and The Little Witch is a good example of precisely that universe. The dark blue costume, the light broom, and the light braids create a beautiful contrast, while the underglaze decoration gives the surface the depth and glow that many associate with classic Bing & Grøndahl porcelain.

As a porcelain figurine, The Little Witch has both decorative value and collector interest. It stands beautifully on its own in a bookcase, in a display cabinet, or on a shelf, where the fairy-tale mood of the motif is allowed to come forward. At the same time, it is ideal to combine with other figurines from the same series to create a personal display with children, dressing up, and fantasy as a common theme. For those who appreciate older porcelain figurines, this is also a lovely way to bring craftsmanship and history forward into a modern home.

It is exactly the kind of figurine that reminds us of the joy of preserving quality objects that are made to last and be appreciated for many years. A vintage porcelain figurine like this adds soul and personality to the home and is at the same time a sustainable choice for those who prefer good craftsmanship with history over new production.
