Royal Copenhagen Soldier figurine no. 289 Toys Sven Vestergaard

Royal Copenhagen Soldier figurine no. 289 is a characterful porcelain figurine from the Toys series, designed by Sven Vestergaard. The figurine depicts a classic toy soldier with an upright posture, black bearskin hat with a red top, distinctive moustache and rifle over the shoulder. The red uniform with white cross-belts, blue trousers and golden details gives the figurine a familiar expression, bringing to mind traditional toys and timeless childhood motifs.

It is precisely this blend of nostalgia, delight in form and precise play of colours that makes the soldier a decorative porcelain figurine with a strong presence. As a figurine in Royal Copenhagen's Toys series, it appeals both to collectors of modern Danish figurines and to those who are fond of small design objects with a story. The slender construction and the upright posture make it suitable for placement on the shelf, on the desk or in a display cabinet, where the clear colours and the glossy porcelain surface come beautifully into their own.

The figurine is made of porcelain and decorated in underglaze, which emphasises the well-crafted expression for which Royal Copenhagen is known. With the soldier, Sven Vestergaard has created a figurine that unites the universe of toys and design tradition in a format that works well on its own, but is also ideal for collectors who wish to supplement or expand a collection from the Toys series. It can therefore be both a standalone feature with personality and a natural part of a larger figurine collection.

For many, a figurine like this will also be an obvious gift idea for collectors of Royal Copenhagen figurines, for the design enthusiast or for someone who is fond of porcelain figurines with reference to classic toys. The soldier has a calm, recognisable motif, which makes it easy to fit into both modern and more traditional interiors.
