Royal Copenhagen Santa of the Year 2010 with sheaf and cat

Royal Copenhagen Santa of the Year 2010 is an atmospheric Christmas figure that captures the warm and storytelling side of Christmas. Here Santa stands calmly with his arms full of sheaves, while two small birds have found a place on the straw, and a grey cat slips closely past his side. The figure conveys winter calm, care, and the special Christmas joy that also reaches out to the animals around us.

The motif is finely balanced with the classic colours from Santa's red cloak and white beard, and at the side a small elf figure can be seen, which gives the composition extra life and detail. It is precisely this kind of thoroughly worked-through storytelling that has made Santa of the Year a sought-after figure series among collectors of Royal Copenhagen Christmas figures. The design was created by Sven Vestergaard, and the figure is made in underglaze, which emphasises the calm, soft expression.

The Santa of the Year series began in 2001, and since then a new Santa has been released every year with its own motif and little Christmas story. From 2021 onwards, a Mrs. Santa has also been added to the collection, which has expanded the series further for collectors. That is exactly why Santa of the Year 2010 is an obvious choice if you wish to supplement an existing collection, find a specific vintage year, or begin a series that many are especially fond of. These Royal Copenhagen Christmas figures are very popular and there is great demand for them.

As Christmas decoration, the figure works both alone and together with other figures from the series. It fits beautifully on a shelf, in the windowsill, or as part of a complete Christmas display with porcelain figures and other classic Christmas decorations. For those of you who appreciate older designs with history, it is also a fine way to bring well-preserved quality and collecting joy further into the modern home.
