Bing & Grøndahl goat figurine no. 1700 licking goat by Dahl-Jensen

Bing & Grøndahl goat figurine no. 1700 is a characterful animal figurine with a lively and lifelike expression. The motif shows a licking goat in a calm, almost everyday movement, which gives the figurine presence and personality. It is precisely this type of observation of the animal's natural behavior that helps make older animal figurines from Danish porcelain and stoneware design so sought-after among collectors and interior enthusiasts.

The figurine is made after a design by Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen, who is known for his assured animal studies and his ability to give animals character without exaggerating the expression. Here the goat is seen with its head turned down toward the body, fine horns, and a beautiful glazed surface in subdued shades of brown, gray, and light tones. The underglaze decoration supports the figurine's calm overall impression and highlights the details of the modeling in a discreet and harmonious way.

As a Bing & Grøndahl stoneware figurine, model 1700 has both decorative value and collector interest. It fits beautifully in a home with a focus on Nordic design, vintage interior, and decorative art with history. An animal figurine like this can stand alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as part of a larger collection of porcelain figurines and animal figurines. It is also an obvious gift idea for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl, related Dahl-Jensen motifs, or classic Danish design.

Choosing an older figurine like this is at the same time a way to bring original craftsmanship and lasting quality further into today's home. Design with history adds soul and personality to the interior, and figurines with natural animal motifs in particular retain their appeal across generations.
