Polar bear cub porcelain figurine Bing & Grøndahl no. 1872, 6 cm

This polar bear cub from Bing & Grøndahl is a small porcelain figurine with a calm and concentrated expression. The figurine is modelled in a low, forward-leaning position, where the long neck and the outstretched head give the motif life and movement. The white glaze emphasizes the simple design language and lets the light glide softly across the figurine's back, sides, and small paws.

As an animal figurine, it has a fine, Nordic character that makes it ideal both for collectors of Bing & Grøndahl figurines and for those who are fond of classic Danish porcelain. The expression is understated and natural, and precisely for that reason the figurine fits well into many types of interior design. It can stand alone on a shelf, in a display cabinet, or as a small detail on a desk, where it adds character to the home without seeming heavy.

The porcelain figurine is executed in underglaze, which gives the surface a clean and cohesive expression. The compact size makes it easy to place, and the polar bear cub motif also makes it suitable as a gift for a collector or for someone who appreciates animal figurines in porcelain. It also works beautifully together with other white porcelain figurines, where it can help create a personal collection with both history and presence.

Bing & Grøndahl is known for figurines where motif and form merge into a higher unity, and this polar bear cub is a good example of precisely that tradition. Here the focus is on the simple silhouette and the precise animal motif, which makes the figurine decorative from several angles.
