Eel Bing & Grøndahl figurine no. 2138 in porcelain 18 cm

This eel from Bing & Grøndahl is a porcelain figurine with a calm, lifelike expression that makes it an obvious choice for collectors of Danish animal figurines and for those who appreciate maritime decoration with character. The figurine depicts the eel's long, undulating body in a simple and precise form, where the movement almost makes it seem alive. The soft transitions between light and grey-blue tones emphasize the calm, Nordic expression that characterizes much classic Bing & Grøndahl porcelain.

It is precisely the subdued color scheme and the fine modeling that make the figurine interesting. The smooth, glossy surface and the underglaze technique give depth to the decoration and highlight the fish's natural lines in a discreet way. As a fish figurine, the eel stands out from more traditional animal motifs and adds a special atmosphere to the interior, whether it is placed in a display cabinet, on a shelf, or together with other porcelain figurines from Bing & Grøndahl.

For collectors, figurine number 2138 is an important detail because it makes the model easy to identify. At the same time, it is a porcelain figurine that has broad appeal with its simple formal language and its motif from Nordic nature. It fits well into both classic homes and more modern interiors, where older design objects are allowed to create personality and contrast. A figurine like this is also a fine choice as a gift for an angler, nature lover, or collector of Bing & Grøndahl.

Older porcelain figurines often have a special warmth and soul, and this eel is no exception. It carries forward the story of Danish porcelain craftsmanship and is a beautiful example of how a small object can add both history and presence to the home.
