Herring Bing & Grøndahl fish figurine no. 2173

This Bing & Grøndahl fish figurine no. 2173 depicts a herring and is a fine example of Danish porcelain design with an eye for nature's simple forms. The figurine is designed by Svend Jespersen, who is known for his naturalistic animal figurines, and here the fish is rendered with a calm, lifelike movement in the body. The glossy glaze and the soft transitions in the blue-grey tones give the figurine a light and naturalistic expression, while the light belly and the discreet green nuances add depth and character.

The herring is modelled in a simple, harmonious design language, where both tail, fins and the slightly rounded body are finely balanced. This makes the figurine decorative from several angles and suitable as a small eye-catcher in a bookcase, on a desk or in a collection with other animal figurines from Bing & Grøndahl. It also fits well into a maritime interior or as a personal gift for an angler, collector or someone who appreciates classic Danish porcelain.

Older porcelain figurines like this have a special charm because they combine good craftsmanship, history and useful decoration in one and the same object. It is precisely the type of object that gives the home more personality and at the same time is a beautiful choice for you who appreciate design with longevity. A fish figurine like this can stand alone, but it also works beautifully together with other porcelain animals, maritime motifs or Nordic collectibles.
