Bing & Grøndahl Friends figure no. 2249 Girl with cat

Bing & Grøndahl figure no. 2249 with the title "Friends" depicts a quiet and intimate moment between a girl and a cat. The figure shows a kneeling girl in a light dress with a blue bodice, bent forward toward the cat, which sits calmly in its basket. The motif has the warm and familiar atmosphere that makes classic children's figures from Bing & Grøndahl so sought-after among both collectors and those who love Danish porcelain with a story.

Claire Weiss has created a porcelain figure in which body language and small movements tell most of the story. The girl's hand by the cat's head and the way she leans toward the animal bring the figure to life and make it easy to relate to. The cat is modeled in a simple, calm form, and the basket with a woven pattern adds a lovely contrast to the smooth porcelain surfaces.

This Bing & Grøndahl figure is made in porcelain with underglaze, which supports the soft color transitions and the calm expression. The figure fits beautifully into a collection of B&G children's figures, animal figures, or classic Danish porcelain art. It can also stand alone on a shelf, on a display cabinet, or as a personal detail in the home, where it adds warmth, nostalgia, and character.

Older porcelain figures like this have a special charm because they carry both craftsmanship and history with them. It is precisely the type of object that continues to create joy in a modern home and at the same time is a sustainable choice for you who value quality over new production. "Friends" is also an obvious gift idea for the cat lover, the collector, or the one who loves figures with children, animals, and everyday motifs.
