Bing & Grøndahl Vagabond Socrates figure no. 2477 21 cm

The Bing & Grøndahl figure Vagabond Socrates no. 2477 is a characterful porcelain figure with lots of personality and humor. The figure shows Socrates as the well-known tramp type with hat, dark jacket, suspenders, round belly and raised index finger, as if he is in the middle of a remark that contains both warmth and life experience. It is a figure that immediately catches the eye and brings narrative into the interior.

The motif has a clear connection to Storm P.'s distinctive universe, where human types are portrayed with warmth, irony and great recognizability. Here Socrates stands upright and self-assured with an expression that emphasizes the optimism and quirky charm the figure is known for. The humorous title and the lively pose make this Bing & Grøndahl figure an obvious choice for collectors of Danish porcelain, Storm P. figures and classic character figures.

The glossy underglaze highlights the figure's shapes and the fine color nuances in the clothing, face and the small details around shoes, beard and attire. As an older collector's figure, it contains both cultural history and the special joy of choosing quality design with soul and durability. Exactly this type of porcelain figure gives the home personality and is a sustainable alternative to new production, because it is created to be preserved and appreciated through generations.

Vagabond Socrates fits beautifully in a collection with other Bing & Grøndahl figures, but can also stand alone on a shelf, on a desk or in a display cabinet, where it adds humor, Danish design history and a little twinkle in the eye. It is also an obvious gift idea for collectors, for the Storm P. enthusiast or for anyone who loves figures with narrative and human character.
